Dare To Stand Like Joshua (Joshua 24:14-15)

Phillip Stuckey, September 30, 2018
Part of the Hymn Studies series, preached at a Sunday Evening service

As Joshua neared the end of his life, he had experienced the power, grace, mercy, and faithfulness of God (Josh. 24:1-13). Considering all that he had seen and experienced, he called on the people of Israel to recommit themselves to the Lord (Josh. 24:14-15). As Christians, we need to have the same courage and resolve as Joshua did. Let’s consider a hymn that reminds us of our need to stand like Joshua.

Joshua 24:14–15 (Listen)

14 “Now therefore fear the LORD and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD. 15 And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
