A Study Of God: God’s Attributes That He Shares With Us (2) (1 John 3:1-3)

Phillip Stuckey, December 15, 2019
Part of the A Study of God series, preached at a Sunday Evening service

We want to come to know God better and grow in our connection with Him (John 17:3). Studying and meditating about God and His nature is challenging since He is infinite and beyond our experience (Isa. 55:8-9). But there are aspects of God’s nature and character that He demonstrates in His actions toward His creation and that He shares with mankind such as His goodness, love, mercy, and grace. Let’s consider a few more of God’s attributes that He shares with us.

1 John 3:1–3 (Listen)

3:1 See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.
