Denominational Differences: Church Governance (2) (3 John 1:9-10)

Phillip Stuckey, March 28, 2021
Part of the Denominational Differences series, preached at a Sunday Evening service

In view of Jesus’ prayer for unity, we want to try to understand the differences with denominations so we can discuss these and come to unity in Christ (John 17:20-21). Another area that we find differences is how to organize and govern local churches. How do different denominations handle church governance? Listen as we look at church governance in different groups in the second part of this lesson.

3 John 9–10 (Listen)

I have written something to the church, but Diotrephes, who likes to put himself first, does not acknowledge our authority. 10 So if I come, I will bring up what he is doing, talking wicked nonsense against us. And not content with that, he refuses to welcome the brothers, and also stops those who want to and puts them out of the church.
