Denominational Differences: Role Of Works & Salvation (1) (Matthew 28:18-20)

Phillip Stuckey, April 25, 2021
Part of the Denominational Differences series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

In view of Jesus’ prayer for unity, we want to try to understand the differences with denominations so we can discuss these and come to unity in Christ (John 17:20-21). Another area that we find differences is the role of works and salvation. This is one of the most debated points in discussions about Christianity and justification. What is the relationship between faith and works and salvation (Rom. 3:28; Jas. 2:24)? What are the differences in denominations about works and salvation?

Matthew 28:18–20 (Listen)

18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
