Give The King Your Justice
Psalm 72 is the last psalm in the collection of Book II in the Psalter, and it is one of two psalms that share the heading “Of Solomon” or “For Solomon,” David’s son (Ps. 127). This psalm is a prayer for the prosperity of God’s King and God’s Kingdom. While this psalm reminds us of our own need to pray for our perspective leaders and what God expects of them, it also points us to the only ultimate and perfect King and Kingdom which is in Jesus Christ (2 Tim. 2:1-2; Matt. 28:18; Rev. 19:16). Let us consider this psalm and its descriptions of God’s King and His Kingdom.
