Send the Light
The Bible uses light in a number of ways. Sometimes, it represents truth (Ps. 119:105, 130). Sometimes it is a symbol of life (Job 33:30; Ps. 36:9; 56:13). It is also a symbol of holiness and truth we see in Jesus Christ (John 8:12). Interestingly, through the work of Jesus we, who were once dead in sin, now are partakers of His light (Eph. 5:8; Phil. 2:15-16; Matt. 5:16). Perhaps this imagery reminds us of the hymn we sometimes sing, “Send the Light.“ Let us reflect on this hymn and think about how we can work together to share the gospel and bring hope to the lost.
