There is a saying, “Anything worth having is worth fighting for.” And it is true that anything of real value to us requires effort to obtain and retain. Our faith in God and Christ is something that should be of great value to us (Rom. 5:1; Acts 15:9; 26:18; Gal. 3:26-29). While faith comes by hearing the gospel of Christ, it goes by many ways (Rom. 10:17; cp. Luke 8:13). As Paul points out in our text, retaining our faith is a fight, a continual struggle.
