The Goal of Faithfulness in the Christian Life
Perfection is something that the world encourages us to strive for. So many people today desire perfection in their careers, relationships, etc. It is easy for that pressure to creep into our spirituality. It is easy to press the worldly idea of perfection onto God’s plan for us in Christ (Matt. 5:48). This pressure can lead us to burnout, discouragement, hopelessness and outright terror (1 John 4:18). But God knows that without His grace in Jesus, we have no hope (2 Cor. 12:10) The reality is that God is not calling us to worldly perfection, but to faithfulness (1 Cor. 4:2).
